Virtually everyone knows that internet marketing is a key element to business success. However, many people still do not realize that the key to effective internet marketing is Search Engine Optimization better known as SEO.

It is important for the owner of a website to draw traffic to the site. How else will potential customers know where to find his or her products services and information? U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines is the key to that process. The first step is to organize and edit all of the information that will be included on the website and the pages within it. How certain essential and descriptive words (keywords) are organized will determine how effective the Search Engine Optimization process will be.
U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines requires that a website’ content is effectively edited, and the codes of HTML are well placed. This process not only increases the importance of keywords, but also enhances indexing on the search engines. There are times, however, when a re-adjustment of the structure of the site is imperative because of the clients’ wishes. Therefore, it is much better if all of the site’s contents are integrated first, before the development of Search Engine Optimization. In web marketing, U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines
is essential in the process of Search Engine Optimization. In the past, the mathematical components that served as the search engine in providing information on the web depended mainly on keyword such as meta-tag, or index files known as ALIWEB. But the use of these tools however, created some problems along the way: one for instance is the inaccuracy of data related to meta tag, or its inconsistency that resulted in pages of information that failed to rank effectively in the search engines. In fact, some webmasters, designed some ways of trickling the characters within the HTML page to upgrade its rank. As most of us, who have U-S-E: an Understanding of Search Engines know now, Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, became the holy grail in web marketing: The higher the rank of a site, the better chance of getting potential clients or business online.
When business competition online became stiff, so did web marketing with Search Engine Optimization: targeting or maximizing astronomical profit and productivity. Therefore, for those who became quickly adept in U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines, they also learned how to adjust to this new tool that became more sophisticated. A number of processes were developed for the purpose of Search Engine Optimization. One of the earliest problems that Search Engine Optimization pioneers were confronted with was ranking manipulation.
Webmasters had certain proprietary factors under their control that defined Search Engine Optimization. However, there was plenty of room for manipulation through those factors that were not under their control.
At the very genesis of Search Engine Optimization, there
were two Stanford University Graduate students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who pioneered such design. Page and Brin, developed a search engine which they named “backrub”. They harnessed complex mathematical calculations and applied an algorithm for rating the prominence of certain web pages over others. PageRank was the name they applied to the number they were able to calculate by means of the algorithm. The strength and quantity of inbound links helped define what the PageRank, would ultimately be. The power of PageRank was in the fact that a person U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines,
who randomly surfed the world-wide-web, and went from links on one page onto links on another page could theoretically reach a particular page more often than they might reach another page. The idea that a person could actually estimate the likelihood of landing on a particular site was a major breakthrough.
From the very beginning the search engine system has been a work in progress. User needs helped shift the operating models and ever better operating models helped to fuel user creativity. Adaptation and response was the name of the game. `
As time passed, those people who were U-S-E: Understanding Search Engines knew that SEO would become a zero sum game with hundreds of thousands, even millions of Search Engine Optimizers all vying to get certain sites at the top of the Search Engines. This required innovation, creativity and talent. As in all things in life, some Search Engine Optimization began to make their own rules. Many of these rules specifically violated the guidelines laid down by the search engines. In time both the Search Engines and the Search Engine Optimizers began to classify Search Engine Optimization techniques into two categories: White Hat Search Engine Optimization and Black Hat Search Engine Optimization.

Though the categories were broad in definition, White Hat Search Engine Optimization was, essentially, those techniques that met the template designs recommended by the search engines. Black Hat Search Engine Optimization was those Search Engine Optimization techniques that fit the templates recommended by the Search Engines.
THOSE U-S-E: understanding search engines knew that often, what was black hat or white hat was not always obvious. Thus many Search Engine Optimization templates ended up in court with a Judge taking on the job of deciding whether a particular template was a White Hat Search Engine Optimization or a Black Hat Search Engine Optimization.

Why did the SEO go to all this trouble of reducing the influence of Black Hat Search Engine Optimization? Though Search Engine Optimization is essential to effective webmarketing, the Black Hat Search Engine Optimization techniques are looked down upon by effective webmarketers. The Search Engines designed to analyze what is an acceptable application usually reject Black Hat Search Engine Optimization, but a more sophisticated tool can still manipulate the system. Among the least effective and ethically suspect techniques is Spamdexing. These techniques are not only among the least effective of the various Search Engine Optimization techniques but they diminish the SEO user experience as well.
Why did the Search Engines care? The search engines in part saw the value to their own vision of having some order, an even playing field if you will, so that users could produce long-lasting results. Goal was to avoid a “crab in a barrel of crabs” scenario where each Search Engine Optimization
would and could do anything, anyway, no matter how unfair or unethical, all for the purpose of getting to the top of the Search Engine.
Black Hats didn’t really care about producing long-lasting results. In fact they functioned out of the expectation that eventually their sites would be banned permanently, or for a short time once the search engines discovered what they are doing.
Those U-S-E: understanding search engines understood White hat templates. These templates created content for users, not for search engines, and then making that content easily accessible to the spiders.
The defining process in Search Engine development was to serve the user more effectively. Search Engines knew they had to offer ever-greater benefits for their users. They knew that when their users typed in a certain name, word or groups of words onto a search line, they would need to receive results that were relevant to their needs, and information rich whenever possible.
Unrelated search pages, sites dedicated totally to marketing products, and other factors that did not meet the needs of the user would be a negative force to the expansion of Search Engine Optimization. Search pages needed to produce relevant search pages filled with many keywords by honest and effective webmasters.
It is the ability of a search engine to produce the relevant results that defines its importance and popularity. If one U-S-E: understanding search engines is given false or useless results they will simply move on to alternative search sources. It is for this reason that Search engines responded by creating ever more complex mathematical systems that soon enabled them to factor in those additional factors that were previously difficult, even impossible for webmasters to control.
In recent years search engines have developed numerous approaches to prevent link manipulation by Search Engine Optimization specialists. To begin with, the algorithms for rating the prominence of certain web pages are privately held. This applies to Google, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Live Search: the three most popular search engines as well as many other search engines. In addition, the major search engines claim to use over 200 different on and off web cues to rank sites. Some off-web factors include demographics such as gender, age, geographical location, and search history of individuals conducting searches in order to further refine results.
The most effective Search Engine Optimizers
consistently study various techniques for Search Engine Optimization. Many of their tips and strategies are published in blogs, and in online articles and forums.
Many Search Engines have patents on their algorithms, and those U-S-E: understanding search engines can investigate them for tips and patterns that may help them transcend the code without violating the patents themselves.
